These small oak barrels are designed to accommodate a bag of wine. They are ideal for parties. Sit one on a bar top or tabletop in your home; buy wine in a box; remove the bag and place it inside the barrel to give the effect of filling your wine glass from an authentic oak barrel.
The rear end of the barrel is hinged so that it can be opened to allow a bag of wine to be inserted. The bag’s tap can then be brought out through a hole in the front end of the barrel.
These cute little barrels invite quick and constant top ups without regard to how much wine is left in the barrel, since that is not obvious. This makes them great for parties, celebrations and extended holidays such as Christmas and New Year.
Most supermarket wine boxes hold the equivalent of four bottles but 10 litre and 20 litre boxes are also available. The larger boxes are usually re-usable and so are ideal for home brew. Wine generally keeps better in a sealed bag than in an opened bottle and it is also generally cheaper to buy than it is to buy in bottles.
Coopered from real oak they have black painted hoop iron and are lacquered externally.
